The Lay Representatives (Rights of Audience) Order 1999

If you are nervous at the thought of court, never mind actually going there you can have someone there to speak for you (with the court's permission). The relevant legislation is "The Lay Representatives (Rights of Audience) Order 1999". You can download a pdf version from the UK Legislation website here

We suggest if you do want to use a Lay Representative you inform the court and the other side but only once you have had a hearing date.
